I first met this wonderful family at a local storytime, and a simple chat quickly turned into a friendship. When they asked me to take their Fall family photos in Atlantic Highlands, NJ, I was honored. They hadn’t had family photos taken since their little boy was a newborn, and I was excited to capture this new season of their lives.

The Perfect Backdrop in Atlantic Highlands

The family hoped to capture the last of the beautiful foliage. I knew the perfect spot for fall family photos in Atlantic Highlands, NJ – a local park with vibrant red and yellow leaves. What I didn’t know was just how perfect this location would be for them personally. It turns out this park holds a special place in their hearts; it’s where they took stroller walks together and sat beneath a big red tree, planting roots in the area after living and working around the world. The picturesque, colorful backdrop was more than just a beautiful setting; it represented their journey and their new home.

From Shy to Silly

When we first started the session, their adorable toddler and their beautiful border collie, Peanut, were a little shy. I was given a heads up that Dad wasn’t thrilled about taking photos either! 😉 But it didn’t take long for them to warm up. We spent the afternoon being silly and capturing their genuine connection. The photos show their awesome personalities shining through, from the sweet moments with their toddler and dog, to the warm smiles they shared as a family.

Capturing a Story

I’m so grateful for the opportunity to work with this family. It was a privilege to capture these memories, and I feel incredibly thankful to now call them friends. This family’s story is a beautiful reminder that home is not a place, but a feeling of being rooted in love.
