This is the most special time! I can’t wait to capture memories for your family as you welcome your new little love. This guide offers simple tips on how to prepare for your in-home newborn photos to help make the session as relaxed and comfortable as it can be.

You don’t need to do a thing to prepare your newborn. You can check this right off your list!
Your little one is perfect the way they are, whether they’re asleep, awake, happy, or fussy. We will probably see it all during our time together, and that’s perfectly fine. We’ll capture beautiful and real images that center the connection between you. Baby calls the shots, and I focus on what you’ll want to remember from this time.

I’ll work around baby’s schedule, not the other way around. When it’s time to feed, change, sleep, play, or just be held, I’ll be there to document it. If we need to pause, take your time. I’m not rushing; you are my focus for the day.

Your toddler is the boss. When big siblings are involved, they run the show! We’ll capture their images first, focusing on play and connection. We’ll let them warm up and take breaks as often as they need. A well-rested, fed toddler definitely helps, but don’t stress if they aren’t interested the whole time. We’ll get the shots!

When thinking about how to prepare for your in-home newborn photos, please don’t worry about tidying the entire house! Most often, we’ll focus on a few cozy, light-filled spaces that feel special and comfortable to you, like the nursery, living room, and primary bedroom. We’ll find the best light, and I’ll move distractions out of the frame as needed. If weather allows, we can also step outside!

Think simple, light, and soft. You don’t have to be fancy, especially at home; wear what makes you feel comfortable and yourself.

The goal is not perfection; it’s presence. Don’t worry about following every tip to the letter. Simply show up as you are and spend time with your favorite people. When you feel at ease, the most honest and meaningful moments unfold, and that’s what I’m here to capture.

If you’re expecting a new baby, let’s reserve your spot on my calendar. I would love to capture this beautiful season for your family. Please reach out with any questions!
